Product Vs Product,
Today’s match is between the ‘hometown favorite’ Coats SureLock VS ‘I only use’ Gutermann Toldi-Lock.
It may be just a basic serger thread matchup, but expect a fair and good match, Enjoy!
Coasts 3000 yards – 2740m retail $3.49 Gutermann 2734 yards – 2500m Retail $3.99
Got both for 50% off so, one $1.75 and $2.00 for them.
First impressions the thread, both are a 2 thread twist, the SureLock being a bit thicker a 40 wt and the Gutermann just slightly thinner a 50 wt.
Gutermann a bit cleaner almost no lint, Coats just very little lint.
I used a size 12 universal needle from Organ.
Sewing with them, the Gutermann was a bit smoother, could be because of a thinner thread.
Both performed very well, for going through the machine for sewing a bobbin winding.
Did a straight stitch, A zigzag, a 3 point overedge and a herringbone stitch. All went well no skipped stitches.
As for the look of the stitches, the Gutermann look a bit better. From more than a few feet away can not tell the difference.
Was hoping for some major difference, but gonna give them a draw, either will work just as well as the other.
For general wovens, light to medium weight, either will work.
You do get 500 more yards and bit cheaper for the Coats SureLock
