Need to refine my method for adding in an accent strip to a panel. Any way to get some animal print into a garment, hehe
When adding in a panel you have to be careful of which fabric is on top and which way the stitches are going to lay in the back, for top stitching, so both sides look identical.
Also, a serger seam usually has a natural side it wants to lay to, use that to your advantage, make it easier to topstitching.
I notice this when doing men’s dress shirts, wanted the side seams to lay toward the back, one went back, the other went towards the front. It took me a few hours to figure out what way the seam like it lay.
This is with my machine and the 4 thread stitch, your machine may act differently and may not matter for you.
The serger is a Singer Professional 5 (14T968dc), the Sewing machine is a Brother Project Runway (CE1100). Deco stitch is the honeycomb 7mm wide and 2mm length.
